Inspired by deep ocean marine life and African tribal culture. SongHai is a series of character design that aim explore the aesthetic and life of distant marine tribes.

In the world of SongHai, critical resources, such as metal, must be extracted from iron foot snail which can only be found near ocean floor habitats. The theme revolves around two tribes, each of which has adapted to their surrounding environment, resulting in changes to their body features.
The iron foot snail plays a vital role in the world of SongHai. In nature, this creature is covered with metal which it extracts from the mineral rich smoke emanating from the deep ocean chimney. Both tribes have developed their own way of utilizing this amazing creature to their advantage.

Chief, Blacksmith.
In the world of Songhai, the Chief assumes a critical role, serving not only as a leader and warrior but also as a skilled craftsman capable of manipulating raw metal materials extracted from the ocean floor.

Vent Diver, Gatherer. 
Working alongside the Chief are Vent Divers, fierce warrior, excellent diver, and professional gatherer. They dress lightly, allowing them to venture into the depths of the ocean and collect iron foot snails for the tribe.

Mediator, Mentor.
One of the most mysterious being one would encounter in the world of SongHai. They only appear in situations where there is an irreconcilable conflict. The ancient instrument they bear pacifies who ever hears its chime.

Seep Watcher, Guardian. 
Seep Watchers serve as the ultimate guardians of the deep ocean Cold Seep Habitat. Their fully developed pressure suits, enabling them to operate underwater and endure extreme conditions with extended periods of time.

Seep Diver, Unknown.
Seep Divers hold the utmost sacred status within the Cold Seep Habitat. They possess exceptional healing abilities and act as skilled diplomats, if one could only comprehend with their unique ways of communication.
